May 4, 2012 by admin Leave a Comment

Wedding anniversary jokes can be used in speeches, on programs or even delivered by the youngest anniversary party guests as a form of entertainment. Below is advice about where to find the best wedding anniversary jokes as well as several samples of some that are sure to make you laugh.

Searching for Jokes

It makes sense to start your search for the best wedding anniversary jokes online, but don’t stop there. Yes, there are plenty of Web sites that contain thousands of jokes, but you should also stop by the book store and check out some printed materials. You might find some great material that isn’t yet online.

You can also look for subtle wedding anniversary jokes in movies, plays and literature. There are lists of some of these items online. Also, just pay attention when you are reading, watching TV or at the movies. You never know when you might hear a joke that you would like to incorporate in an upcoming wedding anniversary celebration.

Sample Jokes

  • Marriage is when a man and woman become as one; the trouble starts when they try to decide which one.
  • Young Son: Is it true, Dad, I heard that in some parts of Africa a man doesn’t know his wife until he marries her? Dad: That happens in every country, son.
  • Adam and Eve had an ideal marriage. He didn’t have to hear about all the men she could have married… and she didn’t have to hear about how well his mother cooked
  • Spouse: Someone who’ll stand by you through all the trouble you wouldn’t have had if you’d stayed single.
  • A couple goes out to dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. On the way home, she notices a tear in his eye and asks if he’s getting sentimental because they’re celebrating 50 wonderful years together. He replies, “No, I was thinking about the time before we got married. Your father threatened me with a shotgun and said he’d have me thrown in jail for 50 years if I didn’t marry you. Tomorrow I would’ve been a free man!”
  • An old man goes to the Wizard to ask him if he can remove a curse he has been living with for the last 40 years. The Wizard says, “Maybe, but you will have to tell me the exact words that were used to put the curse on you. The old man says without hesitation, “I now pronounce you man and wife.”
  • The man looks at his wife as asks “what would you like to do for our anniversary?”
She then replies “we could run upstairs and make love.”
He replies, “Make up your mind, we can’t do both.”
  • Jeremy asks his wife Naomi what she wants for their 25th wedding anniversary. “Would you like a new diamond bracelet?” he asks.
    “Not really,” says Naomi.
“Well how about a Lexus sports car?” says Jeremy.
    “No,” she replies.
“What about a holiday home in the south of France?” he suggests.
She again rejects his offer with a “No thanks.”
“Well what would you like for your anniversary?” Jeremy asks.
“I’d like a divorce, Jeremy,” answers Naomi.
“Oy, I wasn’t planning to spend that much!” says Jeremy.

Using Quotes and Jokes in an Introduction to an Anniversary Speech

December 27, 2011 by admin 1 Comment

When giving a speech at an anniversary party you need to capture the attention of those in the audience. The most well-written speech in the world will not mean much if you cannot get the audience interested. One of the best ways to draw an audience into your speech is through the use of quotes and jokes in the introduction.

It sounds pretty simple, but if you can get a laugh or pique their interest with a fascinating quote then they will be more likely to listen to your entire speech. Of course, choosing the right quote or joke is important, so below is some advice.

Carefully Selected Jokes

It is always a good idea to infuse some humor into a wedding anniversary speech. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to include jokes, but that is one option. A mistake that some speech givers make when using jokes is that they choose a joke that is funny but that does not really have anything to do with the couple or the event be celebrated.

When writing a speech, you want each part of the speech to flow together seamlessly. That includes the joke. To find a joke that will work, look for one that is about love, marriage or commitment. The joke does not have to be about anniversaries in particular, but there should be a way to tie it into the rest of your speech.

Another common joke related mistake is that some choose jokes that are insulting or controversial. Never include a joke that could offend the audience. Never choose a joke that is insulting or too risqué for the audience.

By including carefully selected jokes you will be able to draw the audience in rather than alienating them at the beginning of your speech.

Where to Find Quotes

The use of quotes is another way to quickly grab the interest of the audience. For example, a speech could begin like this:

“Eva Gabor once said that love is a game that two can play and both win. Clearly John and Mary are both winners today as they celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.”

By using an interesting quote from a famous person, the audience becomes interested in the speaker. Of course, the rest of the speech must also be well-written and skillfully delivered, but it is the opening line that often makes or breaks a speech.

There are many places to find quotes that are appropriate for the introduction to a wedding anniversary speech. You can search the internet, scour books or even take the quote directly from the couple. One man was asked to give a speech at his grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. This is how he introduced the speech:

“A wise man once said that all the love in the world won’t keep a marriage together if there is not a sense of commitment. Grandpa, I’ll never forget when you said that to me, and I pray for the same deep commitment to my own family that you have always had for yours.”

Whether you choose to use jokes, quotes or both in the introduction to your wedding anniversary speech; be sure to choose carefully so that your words will have the desired effect.
