There are many ways to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Some ideas are what you might expect such as a nice dinner, a party and plenty of gifts for the couple. There are, however, some unique wedding anniversary ideas that will help to set the celebration apart. Whether just for the couple or for all of their family and friends, these unique anniversary ideas are sure to create a celebration that will be hard to forget.
Recreate the Magic
Imagine if the couple walked into their anniversary party only to find a replica of their original wedding reception. This can include the décor, the table settings, the cake and the food. The more details that you can copy from their wedding day then the better this unique anniversary idea will be.
You will need to pore over their wedding photos and, if possible, talk to people who were there to make sure that you get as many details right as possible. Of course, you may not be able to make the room look exactly the same, but the point is to get close enough that the couple will understand what you were trying to achieve.
An Adventurous Anniversary
Some couples are just more active and thrill seeking than others. Why should these couples celebrate their anniversary in a way that doesn’t match their personality and outlook on life? Instead of a “normal” anniversary party, plan an anniversary adventure!
This could include skydiving, parasailing, rock climbing or any other activities that the couple enjoys. If it is feasible – and this depends on the activity – ask that the couple and/or the guests get dressed up. It will make for great pictures and great memories of this unique anniversary idea.
Act it Out
Unique anniversary ideas are limited only by the imagination (and, perhaps, budget) of the person doing the planning. The more outrageous the idea, the more memorable it will be. If you have a community theater group near you, plan an anniversary outing that includes going to the theater. Arrange for some of the actors and actresses to act out the couple’s wedding during the intermission or immediately following the show.
Of course, this will take some very special planning and you will probably be expected to make a donation to the theater company, but it will be well worth it when you see the looks on the couple’s faces!
If you liked the above idea, but don’t think you could pull it off; this idea is similar, but much easier to execute. Instead of heading to the live theater for the anniversary celebration; head to the movie theater. Many theaters allow you to rent an entire theater, and the cost is less than what you might expect. Invite as many family and friends as you can to be at the theater at the appointed time. When show time arrives, the couple will be surprised to see a very special screening of their wedding video.
As you can see, with a bit of imagination and plenty of planning, you can pull off a unique anniversary idea that the couple will never forget.
